    WWE NXT TV taping report
    January 15, 2015
    Full Sail University
Report by Josh Parry, PWTorch correspondent

    Episode #1 SPOILERS

William Regal announced a #1 contender tournament to NXT champion Sami Zayn, who came out demanding a match against Kevin Owens. Regal made the match for Takeover. And, the #1 contender tournament is still on.

    (1) First round #1 contendership tournament match: Finn Bálor beat Curtis Axel. Axel looked so much better here than he did against Itami.

    (2) Women's Championship match: Charlotte beat Sasha Banks via DQ when Becky Lynch interfered. Bayley came out and chased off the heels before attacking Charlotte! William Regal came out and made a Fatal Four-Way title match for Takeover between the four women.

    (3) Buddy Murphy & Wesley Blake beat The Vaudevillains.

    (4) First round #1 contendership tournament match: Hideo Itami beat Tyler Breeze. Awesome match!

    Episode #2 SPOILERS

    (1) First round #1 contendership tournament match: Adrian Neville beat Tyson Kidd. These guys went LONG. Definitely Match of the Night so far.

    (2) Sasha Banks & Becky Lynch vs. NXT Women's champion Charlotte & Bayley went to a No Contest when all four contestants started brawling in the ring

    (3) Buddy Murphy & Wesley Blake beat Lucha Dragons (Sin Cara & Kalisto) to become new NXT tag team champions! The crowd went nuts for the title change.

    (4) First round #1 contendership tournament match: Baron Corbin beat Bull Dempsey.

    - Contract signing between Zayn and Owens. The match at Takeover was made a title match.

    Episode #3 SPOILERS

    (1) Semi-Finals #1 contendership Tournament match: Adrian Neville beat Baron Corbin. Bull Dempsey distracted Baron allowing Neville to set him up for the Red Arrow and the pin.

    (2) Bayley beat Becky Lynch.

It looks like the tourney finals will take place at Takeover.

    (3) Semi-Finals #1 contendership match: Finn Bálor beat Hideo Itami. Match of the Year as far as I'm concerned. Must-see match.

Neville vs. Finn is set for Takeover.

    End of the Taping.

Dark Match: Adrian Neville & Sami Zayn beat Kevin Owens & Tyson Kidd in the post-show dark match.

    NXT Takeover Card

    - Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens for the NXT Title.

    - Charlotte vs. Bayley vs. Sasha vs. Becky Lynch for the Women's Title.

    - Adrian Neville vs. Finn Bálor for the #1 contendership to the NXT Title.

    All but officially announced:

    - Baron Corbin vs. Bull Dempsey

    - Buddy Murphy & Wesley Blake vs. Lucha Dragons for the NXT Tag Team Championship.

That tournament looks like it should make for some pretty good TV. Also, those three confirmed matches for the February Takeover show look great.

However, what's with that Tag Title change? Blake & Murphy are as bland as they come. I get doing a surprise title change to shake things up, but these guys just seem like an odd choice to be the new champs. I got to assume this means Kalisto is due to be called up to the main roster soon.

Yeah, taking the belts off the Lucha Dragons was a bit of a head scratcher. I hope they aren't going to just turn around and put the belts back on them on the next NXT special.

I think Kalisto will join Sin Cara on the main roster. They need Spanish stars so might as well have them as a popular (God willing) tag team.

    from shakethemropes.com
    Dark Match
Chad Gable defeated Mike Rollins via flip over roll up. Gable has music now, and it’s not bad for generic stuff.

    February 18

    – William Regal spoke about the title change at Takeover. He booked Owens vs Neville tonight.

    – Kevin Owens spoke in the ring. He said Sami is the past, and FINN Bálor is the future. Owens said he’s ready for Bálor anytime. Owens said he made his intentions clear when he came in, and he did what he said he’d do – become champion.

    – Rhyno defeated Elias Samson quickly with a spear. The crowd loved him, chanting Rhyno, Holy Shit, and ECW at him loudly.

    – Backstage, Rhyno faced off with Finn Bálor.

    – Enzo & Cass defeated Vaudevillains with the assisted splash.

    – Backstage, Blake & Murphy said they were no flukes. They hit on Carmella to her horror.

    – Backstage, Adrian Neville said it was sort of a relief not being hunted anymore as champion. He’s the hunter now. He’s hunting Owens.

    – CJ Parker came to the ring, putting caution tape everywhere. He was upset he wasn’t on Takeover, so he was canceling the show. Solomon Crowe debuted, taking CJ out. Crowe came in through the crowd, and left through the crowd.

    – Sasha Banks defeated Blue Pants via submission with the Bank Statement. Blue Pants has music and a Tron now. Post math, Sasha was interviewed in the ring about her win at Takeover.

    – Kevin Owens defeated Adrian Neville in a fantastic match, non-title. Huge spots from Neville including a 450 splash from the ring apron onto Owens on the floor.

    February 25

    – Hideo Itami defeated Bull Dempsey. Hideo was attacked by Tyler Breeze and his selfie stick attacked Hideo afterwards. As Tyler was looking at himself, Hideo recovered and beat up Breeze to end the segment.

    – Lucha Dragons defeated Jason Jordan & Tye Dillinger via pinfall when Sin Cara pinned Tye with a senton. Jason Jordan walked out on Tye during the match.

    – Baron Corbin defeated Tye Dillinger in 20 seconds. Tye was calling Jordan back out, but Corbin came instead.

    – Becky Lynch defeated Bayley via arm bar.

    – Finn Bálor defeated Brian Kendrick in an excellent match given plenty of time. Finn won after the double foot stomp. Owens sat in on commentary. After the match, Owens stood up and stared off with Finn. Kevin then laid out ALEX RILEY, who returned to commentary for this episode.

    March 4

    – Tyler Breeze defeated Adam Rose with the Beauty Shot. The rosebuds were trying to dance with Breeze but he kept them away with his selfie stick.

    – Dubstep Cowboys defeated Angelo Dawkins & Sawyer Fulton of Shoot Nation.

    – Baron Corbin squashed Tony Briggs. During the match, Kevin Owens went to commentary and stalked Alex Riley. Eventually, Owens poured water and Riley’s head. Jason Albert had to hold Alex back while Owens laughed.

    – Alex Riley stormed off from commentary.

    – Solomon Crowe defeated Bull Dempsey via pinfall after his slingshot splash.

    – Sasha Banks retained her Women’s Championship against Charlotte. Sasha pinned Charlotte after throwing her off the too rope, then covering her using ropes for leverage.

    March 11

    – Enzo & Cass defeated Lucha Dragons. Enzo & Cass are building for a tag title shot. Enzo pinned Kalisto after the assisted splash.

    – Alexa Bliss defeated Carmella via top rope moonsault.

    – Alex Riley defeated CJ Parker with the Blockbuster. After the match, Kevin Owens came to the stage to call Riley the dumbest man in WWE. He said Riley was foolish for getting his back tattoo, and for giving up commentary to fight Owens. Owens vs Riley is coming.

    – Tyler Breeze defeated Hideo Itami clean with the Beauty Shot in a very good match given time.

I've always liked Rhino (or Rhyno in WWE). I take it that his involvement with Balor (as well as Brian Kendrick) this will be a short-run to give NXT even more buzz with the nostalgia factor and help some of the new talent. He might even end up in a trainer's role down the line.

I'm not excited about Alex Riley being involved in an angle with Owens at all. I was hoping that him transitioning back into being a full time wrestler would move him away from NXT altogether. Now he's in a program with the champion!

Honestly, I kind of hope this is a step into getting Rhino back to the main roster. I know some people are indifferent to him, but the guy would be valuable to a roster full of forgettable characters.

But aside that, NXT is super interesting. I like that even veterans are becoming involved with it, helping raise the profile overall. And they're not just bringing in names for the sake of NAMES. They're bringing in guys that can have a following but can still work a good match.

    I dig it.

    Next Takeover special 5/20

    April 29th Episode:

    * NXT Champion Kevin Owens kicks off the show with a promo. General Manager William Regal interrupts and says Owens doesn't run the show, Mr. Regal does. Sami Zayn comes out and we've got a match for the May 20th Takeover event. Owens wants it to be non-title but Sami is berating him trying to get the title shot. They agree and it will be a title match.

    * Enzo Amore and Big Cass defeated NXT Tag Team Champions Blake and Murphy in a non-title match.

    * Dana Brooke defeated Bayley when Emma came out to Bayley's music and distracted her.

    * Adam Rose vs. Hideo Itami is next. Itami wins by pinfall.

    * Becky Lynch quickly defeated an enhancement talent named Sarah Thompson by submission. This appeared to be one of the new recruits.

    * Sami Zayn defeated Alex Riley by DQ when Kevin Owens hit him from behind. Owens then hit a powerbomb on Riley.

    May 6th Episode:

    * Charlotte defeated Emma by pinfall. Emma worked as a vicious heel. Bayley came out after the match and offered Emma a hug but held onto her and hit the Hugplex. Charlotte tried to hold Bayley back but she snapped and has had enough of Emma's taunting.

    * Rhyno defeated Bull Dempsey with a Gore. Rhyno cut a promo after the match and said he wants Baron Corbin at Takeover.

    * Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder come out for a match against Enzo and Cass but they don't show. The cameras cut backstage and they were laid out by Blake and Murphy.

    * William Regal is out for a Takeover contract signing segment between Becky Lynch and NXT Women's Champion Sasha Banks. Becky tells her career story and Sasha uses her stamp to sign the contract. Sasha then attacks Becky but Becky gets the upperhand before referees break it up.

    * Finn Balor comes out in a suit to do commentary for the next match, Hideo Itami vs. Tyler Breeze. Itami gets the win with a Shotgun kick. After the match, Breeze jumps Itami but Balor makes the save. Breeze then takes them both out with a superkick on Balor and a Beauty Shot to Itami.

    May 13th Episode:

    * Bayley defeated Jessi McKay with a Hugplex. Jessi was one of the talents just announced as a new recruit this month.

    * Solomon Crowe vs. Baron Corbin is next. Crowe has a new theme song. Corbin wins by pinfall and Rhyno comes out after the match. They start brawling and security tries to hold them back. Rhyno hits Gores on a few security guards and the rest run away.

    * Sasha Banks defeated another debuting enhancement talent by submission, possibly new recruit Cassie McIntosh.

    * Alexa Bliss defeated Carmella after Blake and Murphy distracted Carmella by trying to get her attention. They try to pick her up but she cuts a promo on them and says Enzo and Cass will take the titles at Takeover.

    * Kalisto defeated Tye Dillinger by pinfall.

    * Sami Zayn comes out for a promo but before he can speak out comes Kevin Owens. Sami cuts him down and asks why is he jealous and asks if it's because Owens' son would rather wear a Sami t-shirt than a KO t-shirt. Owens says he knows Sami is hurt and at Takeover, he's going to hurt him again but this time Sami won't be able to come back.

    * Finn Balor and Hideo Itami vs. Adam Rose and Tyler Breeze is next. Breeze gets the pin on Itami. Balor and Hideo weren't on the same page. Tyler kicks Rose post-match. It appears they were building to a three-way.

    Re: NXT Taping Spoilers

Post by SBR on Fri May 22, 2015 2:17 am

    1st set of tapings
--Sami Zayn's music hit, but Kevin Owens got out. He said that he wanted to do an NXT open challenge, but wasn't insecure and likes it when people earn their title shot. People started chanting "John Cena sucks". He said "it's weird cause I've never heard you guys chanting Sami Zayn sucks and he does too!" He said that he did what he said he was gonna do. Zayn showed up and he took him out. He said that he's a good person because he let the crowd lived the moment when Samoa Joe showed up. He added he can drop Joe like that, snapping his fingers. William Regal came to the ring. He said that the only reason Owens still work is because Regal put his fingers on him first. Solomon Crowe came to the ring. He said that Owens is scared and called him a piece of crap. Owens offered him a chance for the title and Regal booked it.
--Emma beat Bayley with the Emma lock. Dana Brooke accompanied Emma. After the match, they doubled team Bayley until Charlotte saved her, but they got the best of Charlotte too, with Brooke doing a samoan driver on Charlotte. New song for Emma, same beginning but it turns into a more heelish tune. She doesn't do that wacky entrance of hers anymore. She's fully heel, no more comedy.
--Blake and Murphy w/Alexa Bliss (with new gears matching those of Blake and Murphy) beat Elias Sampson & Mike Rollins with Blake doing a frog splash on Sampson. After the match, Bliss did her sparkle splash on Sampson.
--Finn Balor beat Tye Dillinger with the Coup de Grace.
--Kevin Owens beat Solomon Crowe with the pop-up powerbomb. Fans were chanting "get the stretcher" a minute into the match. Samoa Joe with his white towel around his neck came in. As Joe got in the ring, Owens left.

    2nd set of tapings
--Tyler Breeze beat Adam Rose with the beauty shot. Fans were chanting "we want Kruger!"  Rose had an hybrid look between Rose and Leo Kruger.
--Interview with Eva Marie who said that she was at TakeOver because the women of NXT were doing so great. She got a "you can't wrestle" chant.
--Alexa Bliss w/Blake & Murphy beat Carmela w/Enzo & Big Cass with a school boy holding the ropes.
--The Vaudevillains defeated Jason Jordan & Marcus Louis when English did a swinging neck breaker to Louis.
--Finn Balor defeated Rhyno after Rhyno missed a Gore in the corner, Balor schooled boy him for the pin. After the match, Balor was on the stage on his way back and Rhyno came out of nowhere to spear him. Great looking Gore.

    3rd set of tapings
--Zack Ryder & Mojo Rawley beat Elias Sampson & Mike Rollins. After the match, Rawley and Ryder went to the crowd where a bunch of people (plants) had a white t-shirt that said Stay Hyped and they celebrated with them.
--Emma beat Blue Pants with the Emma lock. Huge pop for Blue. People sang Happy Birthday since it was Leva Bates' (Blue Pants) birthday. After the match the ring announcer made the crowd sang Happy Birthday to her with a big Happy Birthday sign on the big screen. People chanted Leva after.
--Tyler Breeze beat Bull Dempsey with the beauty shot. Dempsey was running after Breeze outside the ring and got blown up and got to stop twice. The second time, Breeze put him back in the ring to hit his finisher and that was it. Don't know what to think of this since Bull is supposedly a babyface.
--Becky Lynch beat Jessie (Jessie McKay) with the Seated Fujiwara Armlock. Lynch was such a bigger star to the crowd after TakeOver.
--Baron Corbin beat Angelo Dawkins with the end of days. Close to a 3-minute match.
--Samoa Joe beat Scott Dawson with the Muscle Buster. Before the match, Owens was on commentaries. When he came to the commentators booth, he hugged Byron Saxton. Not the squash you would expect, probably to give Owens some time on commentaries. As Owens was leaving, Joe took the mic and challenged him. Owens said that Joe was a rookie in NXT and that he was the veteran (playing on that Cena advice) and that Joe couldn't get a title match after only one match. Regal came in and made a non-title match for the following week.

    4th set of tapings
--Colin Cassady/Enzo Amore/Carmela beat Murphy/Blake/Alexa Bliss. Enzo and Cass did their usual thing but Carmela cut a promo as well. Good stuff. The rules were women vs women and men vs men only.
--The Vaudevillains beat Jason Jordan &  McKazie (don't know who he is) The match ended in a weird way. McKazie got knocked out cold. The ref saw it right away and called for the match. Good call actually. He was completely lost after the match. The ref actually called that almost faster than a UFC ref would have done. He wasn't hit hard so not sure where he got knocked out. Paramedics came, but he was able to sit and left by his own, walking. The crowd was very respectful and applauded him.
--Charlotte beat Cassie (KC Cassidy) with the figure eight.
--No contest between Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe. At the end, they were brawling on the outside, the ref was trying to get them back in the ring, but as they fought, they hit the ref and he called for the bell. Joe was back on the stage, Owens called him a bitch so Joe came back and they went at it again. The rookies wearing an NXT t-shirt came for the pull apart. They went at it a few more times. The crowd reacted big at the bitch comment and was into the pull apart. As he left, Owens knocked out a couple of rookies.

No Sami Zayn. But we don't get to see the promos and don't hear the commentators, so they might have talked about it there. No Sasha Banks either. Again, it was never acknowledged to us.
